What is the El Centro Testing Center for?

El Centro’s Testing Center exists to administer placement and enrollment exams

Can ECC Testing Center staff fax an official score report?

No, ECC Testing Center staff will not fax score reports.

Can I schedule for Accuplacer over the phone?
No. Referral Forms, identification and, in some instances, receipts must be presented before pre-scheduling could be completed.

Can I receive my scores over the phone?
You must come to the ECC Testing Center and identify yourself.

Who do I need to contact for Dual Credit Testing?
El Centro’s Testing Center does not offer Dual Credit Testing.

Who do I need to speak with concerning a test for EMT?
Before testing, you must be advised. See an advisor in Continuing Education.

Who do I need to speak with concerning a test for Firefighters?
This is the same test as for EMT; however, before testing, you must consult the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department’s Recruitment Office.

What is the best time to take my test?
Consult the ECC Testing Center’s schedule and calendar

Why do I have to have the course and section number?
Your tests are filed by course and section number. We can ensure the right exam for your instructor when this information is presented.

Could you please tell me what time I can take an assessment test?
All testing must be arranged through advisement, instructors, and then by presenting a referral form to the customer service staff at the ECC Testing Center, when times could be discussed.  Please refer to our operating hours and calendar.

What days and times are Accuplacer test given?
Accuplacer is administered each week. Accuplacer is administered on Mondays and Tuesdays during the long semesters and Monday through Thursday during registration periods. Accuplacer is administered each Saturday.

Is there a cost for the Accuplacer?
The first administration of the Accuplacer is free. Retakes are $10.00.

Do I need to schedule for any exam?
No pre-scheduling is mandatory, but students have the option to do so.

How much time do I have when taking the Accuplacer?
The entire Accuplacer can take from 3 to 4 hours. One section may take an hour. Two sections may take 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Do you have weekend times for your exams?
Teacher Certification tests and the TOEFL test are scheduled on Fridays and some Saturdays.

However; all other tests are available to walk-ins and those who prescheduled. No tests are administered after 1:30 p.m.

What is the latest time I can come in to take an exam?
The latest is 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays for instructional tests.

Why must I show an I.D. to take a test?
Student tracking and recordkeeping is important to us. We need to know who you are. An I.D. will identify who you are.

Why must I lock my cell phone in a locker?
No calls are allowed during exams. No photo taking is allowed during testing. No phone noise is permitted while others are testing.

Where can I go to get information that is required on the Test Request Form?
One could go to the Admissions Office or the eConnect Room. Keep your class schedule handy or consult the computers in the Student Center to get course and section numbers.

Why can I not bring my own TI-83 calculator?
ECC Testing Center provides non-programmed calculators.   This is preferred by the faculty and staff of El Centro College and has become our policy. 

Can I bring my child to the El Centro Testing Center?
Unattended children are not allowed in or around ECC Testing Center.
