In order to expand fashion design, fashion marketing, interior design, architecture and engineering programs, El Centro College signed a lease for two floors at One Main, located at 1201 Main St. in downtown Dallas. El Centro, which is part of the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD), will lease 55,000 square feet for the next seven years. DCCCD’s Financial Aid Office is also relocating to One Main to better serve the needs of students and provide efficient support for the district. The move-in date is June 1, 2016.In 2015, the fashion marketing program had 330 students; fashion design and Interior design had 169 and 113, respectively.
One Main recently completed a significant renovation that added a new Westin Hotel and revamped the existing office and retail space. The 33-story, 1-million-square-foot skyscraper is owned by KFK Group, which rescued the building from foreclosure. The tower includes 50,000 square feet of retail and 600,000 square feet of Class-A office space. JLL South Central Region President Jeff Staubach, Senior Vice President Brooke Armstrong and Senior Associate Conor McCarthy represented DCCCD. “A strong, established education system provides the future employees for this region’s expanding job base,” said Staubach. “We are proud to play a role in Dallas Community College District’s continued success and enrollment growth.” DFW has 340,000 students poised to fill our growing job base. While some very large regions, like New York, Chicago and LA have substantially more students, DFW remains toward the top of the list. (From JLL Research) Stream Realty’s Ramsey March and Sara Terry are overseeing leasing.
