Art History III     New course added March 23, 2012

This is a Unique Need Course.

Prerequisite: ARTS 1303 and ARTS 1304 are recommended for art majors.

Course Description: Emphasis is on the critical period of development, transition, and eventual dominance of abstract and conceptual art as it evolves from the late 19th century through the current era. Socio-political ideas and events, individual and group quests for expressive freedom, and the impact of ever-increasing sophisticated tools and techniques are explored in this course. (3 Lec.)

Photography I

This is a Texas Common Course Number. This is a DCCCD Core Curriculum Course.

Prerequisite: Recommended prerequisites for Art Majors, ARTS 1311, ARTS 1312, ARTS 1316, and ARTS 1317.

Course Description: Introduction to the basics of photography. Includes camera operation, techniques, knowledge of chemistry, and presentation skills. Emphasis on design, history, and contemporary trends as a means of developing an understanding of photographic aesthetics. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

Photography II

This is a Texas Common Course Number.

Prerequisite: ARTS 2356.

Course Description: Extends the students' knowledge of technique and guides them in developing personal outlooks toward specific applications of the photographic process. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

Wellness and the Human Experience - This learning category allows you to explore a wide range of courses related to who you are and how you relate to the world. The courses offer an opportunity for you to examine your physical, social, financial, intellectual, emotional and aesthetic well-being.


Courses in Tier 2 reinforce and apply the knowledge and skills that you learned in Tier 1.

This learning category focuses on the value of literature, philosophy, and the visual and performing arts. You will be able to critically analyze and form artistic judgments about the arts and humanities.
