Eva Anderson Faculty Awardee
Eva Anderson lived her dreams while teaching nursing at El Centro College from January 1972 through August 2002. She was able to teach her students skills in patient care, job responsibilities, medical services, and technical knowledge needed in their nursing professions. Eva’s work experience included working at Baylor University Hospital and as Director of Nurses at Doctors Hospital before her teaching at El Centro. For the past seven years, Eva has continued to teach clinical in the ADN Program each semester at Terrell State Hospital. She remains active in local, state, and national nursing associations and serves as Vice-President of the DCCCD Retirees Association.
Eva stated “I fondly remember my interview with President Donald Rippey at El Centro College in 1972. Joining the ECC faculty opened a door that I found fulfilling as a career. As an instructor, I was blessed with the opportunity to share my nursing experience and knowledge with students. DCCCD and its nursing program at ECC have my gratitude for providing the support and services which has assisted us to provide the community with well-trained nurses.
Upon retirement in 2002, I felt that I would miss the students for they continue to stimulate me. As an adjunct faculty since 2002, I have enjoyed the opportunity to open their door to learning by facilitating various learning opportunities.”
