Dr. Emily Reece Berkowitz serves as full-time faculty in El Centro’s, North Lake’s and distance learning Nursing programs as the fourth semester coordinator and re-admission committee chair. She holds a Ph.D. in public health studies and a Master of Science in Nursing degree, both from Texas Woman’s University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Regents College in Albany, New York, and a bachelor's degree in information systems from the University of Texas at Dallas. She began working for the DCCCD in 2008.
Her experience includes working as an RN in emergency, ICU and adult psychiatric settings. She also has worked as a nurse practitioner and in emergency and occupational health. She served as a clinical examiner for Excelsior College in Albany, New York, from 2005-2010, and clinical faculty for TWU from 2006-2008.
She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and Phi Kappa Phi. Honors include being named among DFW Hospital Council’s Great 100 Nurses in 2006 and as a finalist in D Magazine’s Excellence in Nursing in the emergency category. She holds certifications as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) and Certified Adult Health Nurse Practitioner (ANP-C).
