El Centro College’s Internet Development Technologies program provides skills ranging from Internet marketing to interactive media development to website system administration and more.

If you’re just interested in accumulating the skills, all Internet Development Technologies courses are also offered for noncredit continuing education units.

The components of Web design and development are wide and varied, with hundreds of applications. Courses include:

  • 2-D and 3-D animation
  • gaming (programming, modeling and rendering)
  • graphic design and illustration
  • multimedia (audio, photography, Flash)
  • Web design and programming
  • Java and database programming
  • analytics and eCommerce
  • marketing, project and strategic management

Computer support positions are in increased demand as organizations upgrade outdated hardware, software and network equipment.

Workforce Solutions of Greater Dallas’s targeted occupations projects 11 separate computer-related positions as high growth areas this year.

CareerOneStop, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, projects job growth increase of 16 percent for graphic designers, 17 percent for multimedia artists and animators, and 37 percent for Web developers over the next decade. It also lists Web developer among its fastest-growing occupations and careers with the most job openings for jobs requiring at least an associate degree.
