Jennifer De La Garza began teaching in the Respiratory Care program in 2008. She has worked as a respiratory care practitioner for the Parkland Health and Hospital System since 1991, where her responsibilities have included bedside therapist, team leader, staff educator and research project participant. She was instrumental in the development and implementation of patient care protocols for the hospital.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Texas and an associate degree in respiratory care from California College of Health Science. She is the author of several published articles and abstracts (research summaries) that have appeared in The American Journal of Surgery and in Respiratory Care, the journal of the American Association of Respiratory Care. She is a member of the American Association of Respiratory Care and the Texas Society for Respiratory Care and holds credentials as a registered respiratory therapist (RRT).
