Length of time is based on catalog degree plans. Prerequisites may be required, which are not included in this estimate. For most programs, full-time student status is assumed, a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.

The El Centro College Medical Laboratory Technology program is recognized locally and nationally for its outstanding faculty and student experience that includes class and lab instruction, field trips, clinical rotations and special-topic speakers.
Before you can apply for admission to the MLT program, you must first complete the Medical Laboratory Technology Core Curriculum, which includes general education and related health classes and can be completed in two semesters.
The MLT program accepts students via a competitive selection process based on grade point average in the primary prerequisite courses. MLT courses begin in mid-May of each academic year. Lecture, lab and clinical course work take place over a 16-month period.
When you graduate, you’ll be eligible to take the Board of Certification exam to become certified as a medical laboratory technician through the
American Society for Clinical Pathology. Our students’ pass rate on this exam consistently stays well above the national average.
