Studio Active: Advanced Student Juried Exhibition

Awards Reception:  Wednesday, November 6, 2019, 3pm - 5pm

See what El Centro creative students are sharing in the arts, drama, and music fields! Monetary prizes will be awarded to First Place and three Honorable Mentions by Juror Bailey Chapman. Bailey Chapman is an artist and musician. She received her BFA in Painting from the University of North Texas and an MFA in Painting from Texas Woman's University. Chapman is the drummer for Dallas punk bands Pearl Earl and Heavy Pulp, and Los Angeles band Thelma and the Sleaze.

These Bright Hours
a solo exhibition of works by Hannah Bludworth
January 13 - February 12, 2020
Reception with Artist:  January 18, 2020, 6 - 8 pm

Hannah Bludworth is a native Texan and abstract painter currently residing in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed a BA in Painting at Texas Woman's University. Her work is defined by lucid layers of washed paint beneath frenetic strokes of bold colors. Bludworth's work attempts to capture the vague spaces between reality, dreams, figurative, and non-figurative.

Young American Talent 29th Annual High School Art Competition
February 24 - March 25, 2020
Awards Reception:  March 25, 2020, 6 - 8 pm

Young American Talent is a juried visual art competition for North Texas High School students. It is hosted by the non-profit Visual Arts Guild at Booker T. Washington HSPVA and the H. Paxton Moore Fine Art Gallery at El Centro College. The annual event encourages the pursuit of artistic excellence among Dallas-area high school students by providing an opportunity to compete with peers, participate in a juried art exhibit and receive recognition in a professional gallery setting.

Spring Juried Student Exhibition
April 13 - May 1, 2020
Awards Reception:  April 17, 2020, 3 - 5 pm

The Spring Juried Student Exhibition is an annual show consisting of selected works by the students of El Centro. The competition includes monetary prizes to support the artistic endeavors of the student winners.

Paper + Print
May 18 - June 12, 2020
Reception with Artists:  May 22, 2020, 6 - 8 pm

An exhibition featuring contemporary local, national, and international artists in the field of Papermaking and Printmaking. Artists include John Babcock, Véronique Buist, Joan Hall, Philana Oliphant, Robyn Wall, and Tino Ward. Workshops and talks will take place along with the exhibition.
