The Outreach departments at each college and the District Outreach team are committed to actively engaging the community and raising awareness about the importance of education among all populations.
Professional staff members participate in events and activities that improve college access rates by connecting prospective students to the colleges of DCCCD for the higher education and technical training they need to succeed.

The Outreach unit is a major component in recruitment and enrollment of traditional and non-traditional college students who are in pursuit of an Associate’s Degree or a trade and industry certification to enhance their value in the occupational marketplace. Major elements of outreach occur through ongoing provision of campus tours to elementary, middle and high school students. Additional points of entry occur through engaging local industry stakeholders and faith-based communities for non-traditional student instruction and creation of adult education pathways.

The Outreach and Recruitment Unit provides an array of services for a smooth entry into El Centro College which includes informative tours for high school, elementary, and middle school students. El Centro college students who are interested in eventually pursuing a bachelor’s degree are also supported with intrusive advising, proactive course scheduling and transfer fairs to foster a smooth transition into their four-year institution of choice.
Strategic outreach efforts are provided to entities and organizations within faith communities across the region and the state to provide educational services, and informed access to degree program options and trade certificate pathways.
Partnerships are developed with employers of various types to provide customized professional development instruction to their employees, as well as encourage pursuit of certifications and associate degrees for career advancement and ongoing development of work-related skills.
Pre-Scheduled group and individual tours of El Centro College’s various locations are offered on a continuous basis to provide insight on our facilities and educational resources which support our students’ academic success, as well as their holistic and professional development.
