The mission of El Centro College is to provide a quality education to students. Part of the educational process is for the student to be exposed to a variety of viewpoints and ideas. El Centro has established an operational memorandum to facilitate the free exchange of these points of view in a positive and safe manner. El Centro College has designated a Free Speech area located between just outside the Student Center, in the Green Amphitheater area. Requests to reserve campus grounds for an assembly and/or demonstration must be made at least 1 week in advance of the activity. This advance notice allows the University the opportunity to avoid the problem of simultaneous and/or competing assemblies or demonstrations and to arrange for adequate security.Free speech area at our West Campus is also located outside in the grassy area. The online Free Speech Area request form requires the applicant to provide a contact name, address, and phone number. Persons making the request and those participating in the demonstration are responsible for reviewing
Distribution of Literature/Free Speech Guidelines found on page 42 of the Student Handbook.
