El Centro College is known for its diverse student body. Its central location allows students from all parts of Dallas County to take advantage of core educational courses transferable to four-year institutions, as well as career training in more than 50 exciting fields and a variety of continuing/workforce education courses. Students at El Centro are of all ages and come from all walks of life eager to take advantage of the many exciting and popular programs offered here.
El Centro is well known in the community for its extraordinary Allied Health and Nursing programs, Fashion/Interior Design, Culinary and Information Technology programs among others. El Centro was the first college of the DCCCD to offer a nursing program and has established relationships with most hospitals in the Dallas area.
The Fashion Design program has won several competitions and students have won scholarships to study abroad. Fashion design and fashion marketing students now take advantage of El Centro's stature in the industry to begin an interesting and rewarding career in the fashion industry.
El Centro's Downtown Campus is the flagship campus, opened in 1966. Other locations include West Campus, Center For Allied Health and Nursing, R Building, Center for Design, Center for Corporate Training and Wellness, and Mockingbird.
Our West Dallas Campus is southwest of El Centro College Downtown and is less than four miles away via the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. It is a one stop location where students can meet with an advisor, register for credit and continuing education classes and speak to a Financial Aid advisor. Parking is complimentary. Dart Bus routes #52, #59, and #453 provide easy access to the West Campus.
Opened in 2008, the Center is equipped with the latest classroom and laboratory tools and technology. It features 55 classrooms, laboratories and other venues that contain some of the most advanced equipment available to educate nurses and a wide range of other health care occupations essential for staffing hospitals, medical clinics and other health occupations to function.
This building houses the Evening/Weekend Administration office as well as a variety of Faculty offices. It is also the site of the Lassiter Early College High School Administrative Office. The DCCCD Health Careers Resource Center is located on the 7th Floor of the R Building.
The Center for Design is located at One Main (1201 Main Street) on the 10 and 11th Floors. The Center For Design houses Architecture, Continuing Education, Digital Art, Engineering, Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing and Interior Design classes. El Centro signed a lease for two floors at One Main in May 2016 in order to expand these popular programs.
In order to expand Workforce Training, Continuing Education, and Physical Fitness Training program, El Centro College leased the former Texas Club space located across from our Downtown Campus. There are enrollment packages available to the downtown business and residential community and for students, faculty, and staff.
El Centro's Dental Hygiene Program and Clinic is located at the Mockingbird building.
El Centro students ride DART Free!
Qualified DCCCD students can ride free on DART trains and buses anytime, anywhere during the semester for which you register at least six credit hours during the fall or spring or three credit hours during the summer. This exceptional service is also available to Continuing Education students enrolled in at least 96 contact hours in a single quarter and 48 in the summer.
