Dallas Texas Prefreshman Engineering Program  (Dallas TexPREP)

History and Results

TexPREP was founded in 1979 by mathematics professor Dr. Manuel P. Berriozabal, at the University of Texas at San Antonio.  Replication of the program began in 1986. Since 1997, with a grant from NASA, TexPREP has continued its replication in Hispanic-serving institutions nationwide.

Since the program’s origin, over 24,842 students have completed at least one summer component of TexPREP.  Of those students, 81% were members of minority groups, 53% were women, and 38% came from economically disadvantaged families.
