What Do We Offer?

The Libraries offer access to both paper resources and electronic resources:

    Transition Center

    El Centro College Transition Center Assist Students in making a successful transition to El Centro College, successfully completing requirements and effectively transferring to a four year College or University

    Accuplacer Prep

    Many students who begin at El Centro College will need to have their reading, writing, and math skills assessed before enrolling in college level courses. The test used to assess these skills at El Centro is the Accuplacer..

    Learning Center

    Our Mission

    The Learning Center's programs provide supplemental instruction, tutoring, workshops, and technology resources that inspire and aid El Centro College students not only to achieve academic success, but also to become independent learners. These programs support learning by teaching strategies that help increase students' understanding of course content and by introducing and polishing study skills that improve their performance.

    Our Goals

    The Learning Center will work to
    • empower our students to become lifelong learners.

    Computer Center

    The College Computer lab, located in room A435, is available for use by any student registered for credit or non-credit courses at El Centro College. Cisco Networking Academy, Microsoft IT Academy, Microsoft Certified Application Specialist, and Unix/Linux classes use restricted labs in A431/A433/A423/A429.

    Assessment Center

    Your assessment requirements can be met at El Centro's Assessment Center. We are here to service students and faculty.

    We are located in the basement of A building in room A067.

    The Assessment Center provides a wide range of services including:

    • TOEFL
    • Teacher Certification Exams
    • Diagnostic Testing
    • Distance Learning online Testing
    • CLEP
    • Dual Credit Testing

    Adult Education

    Taking GED Students to the next level


    Texas Leadership Consortium for Special Populations coordinated efforts with El Centro College and Houston Community College System to create a model for GED students to transition from ABE programs to technical certificate and associate degree programs using a method similar to the Tech Prep model. Funding for this project is provided by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s (THECB), Carl Perkins Statewide Leadership grant.

    Adult Resource Center


    The Adult Resource Center offers various supports to enrolled students of El Centro College who are: single parents, single pregnant women, and other economically disadvantaged students. All eligible students must demonstrate financial need. We help you meet the challenges of entering/re-entering the workforce, and all services are provided on a “first-come-first-serve” basis. Visit your one-stop center for assistance today!
