It also describes the expectations of your advisor and the expectations of you as the student throughout the advising experience.

Advisor & Advisee Responsibilities
Advisor Responsibilities
Students can expect their academic advisor to:- Be available, understanding, approachable, and demonstrate interest in the advisee
- Maintain confidentiality
- Make appropriate referrals within the college and encourage advisee to develop skills that will lead to self-responsibility
- Effectively communicate prerequisite, curriculum, and graduation requirements for your program
- Articulate college and academic policies & procedures to the advisee
Suspension & Probation
Academic Suspension/Probation Program
The Academic Suspension/Probation program is a requirement of all students at El Centro College with a GPA (1) below a 2.0. This program is designed to assist students in achieving academic success and assist in returning to good academic standing. Upon completion of the program students should be able to apply appropriate strategies and techniques based on a well-developed Student Success Plan.Guidelines for Students on Academic Probation
Personal Counseling
El Centro College counselors are available to help current students with personal, career and academic concerns that affect academic success and quality of life. Counselors also provide crisis intervention; brief, solution-focused counseling; and referrals to other agencies, when needed, for such concerns as:
- Adjustment Issues
- Anger Management
- Career Issues
- Conflicted Life Choices
- Coping Skills Training
- Death or Loss
- Drug or Alcohol Abuse
