El Centro College College sponsors a Sommelier Training Program developed by the International Sommelier Guild (ISG).

The 12-week Training Program is held three times per year in the Fall, Spring, and Summer.

The hours of the class are Sundays, 12:00pm - 7:00pm. This 84 hour Sommelier training program is made up of two ISG introductory courses.

• Wine Fundamentals 1
• Wine Fundamentals 2

These two courses need to be completed prior to sitting for the Sommelier Diploma Program (SDP).

El Centro College offers two classes specifically designed for students with developmental disabilities or mild mental retardation. These classes provide students with the opportunity to experience learning and social interaction in an age-appropriate environment and gain the skills necessary for the transition from school to work and the community.

Are you interested in speaking another language and building your skills in the workplace?  We offer students the opportunity to connect with others looking for conversation partners. Our courses are designed specifically for the workforce in the areas of business and healthcare and are for the true beginner. There are no prerequisites to register.  Free access is available to our state of the art World Language Lab for students that are registered in the courses with a paid fee receipt and ID badge.

Food Protection Management Certification


Come to El Centro College to become a Certified Food Service Manager. We offer approved certification and re-certification courses that meet the requirements mandated by the cities of Dallas, Garland and Mesquite. These courses are also offered in Spanish.

English as a Second Language

All of the ESL courses are designed to teach the student with limited English proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening skills to aid in work-related communication and comprehension in English. Each course will include the language skills and structures needed for entry-level employment and successful on-the-job performance.
