Industrial Maintenance Mechanics

Basic Millwright IIMachine Tool RepairModern industrial plants and factories house a wide range of mechanical equipment and machinery. All of this equipment requires installation, maintenance, and repair. The Industrial Maintenance Mechanics program is 340-hour intensive training and prepares you for an entry-level position as an industrial maintenance mechanic and other related positions. Technical instruction and hands-on training on industrial production equipment gives students the skills necessary to begin a well-paying and rewarding career.

Machine Shop Skills

The Machine Shop program prepares students for employment within the production, maintenance, or manufacturing industries. Machine shop math, reading a blue print, troubleshooting machines, using measuring instruments, and basic machine shop skills are taught, as well as simulated hands-on training through Siemen’s SinuTrain software.

Dispensing Optician Technician

Dispensing Optician and Lens Lab Technician

In the optical lab you will learn to mark-up, block, edge, groove, and drill single vision and multi-focal lenses, make patterns for use in the edging process, apply impact resistance processes to lenses, tint, insert, repair frames, and inspect finished spectacles applying American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and other accepted standards.

Urban League Computer Training

Program Description

On May 1, 2000 El Centro College and the Dallas Urban League formed a partnership to create and offer computer courses for the Oak Cliff community. Over 2,500 students have enrolled, been trained and completed one or more of the courses.

Students are awarded 3.0 Continuing Education Units (CEU) from El Centro College for successful completion of each of the five (5) courses, which are Intro To PC, EXCEL, WORD, PowerPoint and ACCESS.

Path2Success

Is a 10-week computer training program covering Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer, plus, professionalism in the workplace. It includes classroom instruction, hands-on training and practical workforce exercises.

Career Exploration

Explore your abilities, interests and personality style, and find out about the job you were meant to do. Career Exploration assists students in exploring carer options and setting career gaols that will provide job satisfaction.

Career Exploration classes target improving the understanding of career options and personal interests, aptitudes, and abilities, along with personality styles while examining real jobs in the community. The class includes a personalized vocational evaluation and career report.
