Joe MartinezTitle: Title V Director and Counselor Office Location: B-301 Email: jmartinez2@dcccd.edu Phone: 214-860-2396 Joe Martinez currently serves as the Title V Project Director and Counselor at El Centro College. He also teaches a student success course at the college. Joe holds a Master of Education in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is also a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. Joe received the Jean Sharon Griffith Student Development Leadership Award in 2007. He will be celebrating 10 years in DCCCD this Fall. He enjoys all the aspects of his job: teaching, counseling and administration, but his biggest influence is in the classroom. She has over 13 years experience in higher education. Her experience stretches from classroom instruction to grant management to project management. Iris has a passion for the multifaceted education that community colleges offer and she strives to offer her contributions through special projects, and innovation. Donny BrooksTitle: Summer Bridge Program Director Office Location: R-504 Email: dbrooks@dcccd.edu Phone: 214-806-2714 Donny Brooks holds a B.A. in Arts & Science from Texas Tech University, a Masters Degree in Science and Theology from Minnesota Graduate School of Theology. He also is a certified grant writer; Crisis Counselor with The Academy of Crisis Counseling Association; certified substance abuse counselor and instructor through Texas Alcohol and Counsel Association. Additionally, he has completed training in counseling adults and children from Therapon Institute. He is formally the director of Texas Pre- Freshman Engineering summer program and ECC’s College Mentor Program. Karen StillsTitle: Coordinator, Student Services; Human Development Adjunct Faculty Office Location: R-505 Email: kstills@dcccd.edu Phone: 214-860-2033 Karen Stills currently serves El Centro College as the Student Services Coordinator for the Title V Project. She has served El Centro College for nine years in a variety of roles that have included community outreach; leadership of case managed programs, Rising Star and TRIO Student Support Services; and leadership for the development of student learning outcomes for student affairs. Karen has additionally had the pleasure of teaching a freshman student success course for five years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of New Orleans, and will complete her MBA in Strategic Leadership this summer from Amberton University. As a three-time, award recipient of Innovation of the Year, Karen enjoys discovering new ways to advance student success.
