Professional Employment

  • Objective
    • The objective of the Professional Employment Program (PEP) is to assist program completers and graduates find full time employment in the field for which they have trained.

  • Eligibility
    • To be eligible for the PEP, a person must have accomplished one of the following:

    1. Graduated from El Centro College with a Credit level Certificate or Associates Degree. (Note: persons with Continuing Education certificates may obtain service from the Bill J. Priest Institute, Career Center.)

    2. Graduated from El Centro College with a Credit level Certificate or Associates Degree. (Note: persons with Continuing Education certificates may obtain service from the Bill J. Priest Institute, Career Center.)

    3. Graduated with an Associates Degree or higher from any other college or university and taken credit courses at El Centro College to update their skills in an occupation supported by El Centro College curriculum. The recommendation of a related program Faculty Member may be required to meet this qualification.

    4. Other persons completing at least 9 credit hours in courses at El Centro College that are recommended by a Faculty Program Coordinator. This specifically includes persons preparing to complete or graduate at the end of the current term.

  • Documentation
    • Former students applying for the PEP must present the following:

    1. A current "Advisors Report" that shows that the person was in good standing at the end of the last term attended. (Note: The status of "Academic Probation" "Academic Suspension," or the presence of any "blocks" does not constitute good standing.)

    2. A letter of Recommendation from a Faculty member or Program Coordinator if required above.

    3. A valid state ID.

    4. An application for admission to PEP available in and submitted to the Career Center, Room A210.

  • Services
    • Services available to PEP participants include:

    1. Resume preparation.

    2. Use of the Job Bank Lab to prepare a resume.

    3. Job Bank: register and upload your resume.

    4. Use of the Job Bank once a resume is online and approved by the Career Services staff.

    5. Job coaching and placement assistance. Contact Career Services.

    6. Other activities as recommended by Job Coach or Counselor.
