Group Tutoring
During group tutoring sessions, students work with an experienced tutor who serves as the facilitator for group discussions and problem solving. The tutor is trained in group study techniques that encourage active learning, and students are encouraged to build problem-solving and critical thinking skills with their classmates. Group tutoring sessions last one hour, but students are welcome to stay in the center and receive additional one-on-one help before or after the session.
Math Group Tutoring
Group tutoring for math is offered at the course level; students should come to the session scheduled for the course in which they are currently enrolled. The math group tutoring schedule for the Spring 2013 semester is as follows:
Writing Group Tutoring
Instead of organizing group tutoring by course, writing group tutoring is organized by topic. Each week, we will focus on a different writing skill such as writing effective thesis statements, using MLA format, correcting fragments and run-ons, and preparing for the ICE. Students in ALL levels of writing, as well as students in other courses who simply want to refine their writing skills, are welcome to attend any writing group tutoring sessions.

Group Tutoring Policy
A minimum of three students must show up for a group tutoring session in order to guarantee an hour session. If fewer than three students show up during a group tutoring time, the tutor will get the student(s) started but cannot devote a full hour of undivided attention; the tutor will step away to assist other students in the center while periodically checking on the student(s) in group tutoring.
