What Is Rising Star?
Rising Star provides qualified high school graduates with academic support services and up to $4,000 for tuition and books, if you have established financial need.
The DCCCD Foundation created the Rising Star Program because we believe everyone should have a chance to realize the American dream. We also believe that a college education through the colleges of DCCCD is an excellent first step toward achieving that goal.
Recognizing that some people truly lack the personal finances needed for college — even the affordable rates offered by the colleges — the Foundation established the Rising Star Scholars Program in 1999.
Who Is Eligible?
If you have recently graduated from a Dallas County public high school, have demonstrated financial need and meet certain academic requirements, you can be a Rising Star. Find out now if you are eligible.
How Do I Apply?
You’ll need to complete an admission application, complete a Rising Star application and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Just follow these steps to become a Rising Star.

Rising Star Transfer Scholarships
If you want to attend a four-year college or university after you leave the colleges of DCCCD, we want to help you get there. The Rising Star Program has worked with local universities to establish transfer scholarships just for Rising Star students.
The DCCCD Foundation gratefully acknowledges its Legacy Leaders, who gave $1 million and above in support of the Rising Star Program.
If you have questions or need more information, contact the Rising Star Office at your college (or the college you plan to attend) to speak with a Rising Star advisor.
