In many cases, the rush to get connected comes at the expense of adequate network security. Information is an asset that must be protected. Network security is the process by which digital information assets are protected. The goals of security are to protect confidentiality, maintain integrity, and assure availability. With this in mind, it is imperative that all networks be protected from threats and vulnerabilities in order for a business to achieve its fullest potential.

CCNA Security Course CPMT 2334/2434
- Students are eligible to enroll in a CCNA Security course if they have CCNA-level networking concepts knowledge and skills along with basic PC skills and Internet navigation skills. CCNA Security does not require students to have completed other Network Academy courses.
CCNA Security is a blended curriculum with both online and classroom learning. CCNA Security aims to develop an in depth understanding of network security principles, as well as the tools and configurations available. The following tools are covered:
- Protocol sniffers/analyzers
- TCP/IP and common desktop utilities
- Cisco IOS software
- Cisco VPN client
- Web-based resources
- Packet Tracer (PT)
Upon completion of the CCNA Security course, the student will be able to perform the following tasks:
- Describe the security threats facing modern network infrastructures
- Secure network device access
- Implement AAA on network devices
- Mitigate threats to networks using ACLs
- Implement secure network management and reporting
- Mitigate common Layer 2 attacks
- Implement the Cisco IOS firewall feature set
- Implement the Cisco IOS IPS feature set
- Implement site-to-site IPSec VPNs
- Administer effective security policies
Students should be prepared to take the 640-553 exam Implementing Cisco IOS Network Security (IINS) leading to the CCNA Security certification.
