Cathy Carolan has served as the coordinator and a faculty member for El Centro’s Echocardiology Technology program since 2000. She has been in allied health care her entire career, starting as a radiographer before moving into the field of ultrasound.
Originally from Sydney, Australia, she is a registered diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS), with specializations as a registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer (RDCS) and registered vascular technologist (RVT).
She holds credentials in several specialty sonography areas including abdomen, obstetrics and gynecology, vascular ultrasound and echocardiography. She also teaches in El Centro’s other ultrasound program, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, and served as adjunct faculty in both programs before going full time.
Her extensive experience in the field of diagnostic medical ultrasound encompasses all major specialty areas and includes both clinical practice and participation in education programs.
She has served as a didactic and lab instructor, as well as corporate program director, for Ultrasound Diagnostic School in Dallas and as a didactic and lab instructor in general ultrasound, obstetrics and gynecology and cardiovascular specialties for Keith Mauney and Associates in Las Colinas.
She holds a graduate diploma of applied science with a major in medical ultrasound from Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia; a certificate of diagnostic medical ultrasound from Mitchener Institute (formerly Toronto Institute of Medical Technology) in Ontario, Canada; and an associate diploma in diagnostic medical radiography from Sydney Technical College, N.S.W., in Sydney, Australia.
She serves as a committee member of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Cardiovascular Technology. She has served as treasurer of the North Texas Cardiac Ultrasound Society, of which she continues to be an active member.
Parma Nicole Duncan, B.S., RDCS (PE), RCCS

Distance Education
Parma Duncan currently works as a pediatric echocardiologist at the University of Virginia Pediatric Cardiology Department in Charlottesville, Va., and has taught distance education courses in Pediatric Echocardiology for El Centro since 2010.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in diagnostic medical sonography from Mountain State University in Beckley, W.Va., and is credentialed as a registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer with specialty in pediatrics (RDCS(PE)) and registered congenital cardiac sonographer (RCCS).
Laura L. Martho, RDCS (AE, PE)

Adjunct faculty member Laura Martho earned associate degrees in both the adult and pediatric Echocardiology programs at El Centro College. She has worked as a cardiac sonographer at Children’s Medical Center since she completed her internship there as an El Centro student in 2009.
A career changer, she has worked in computer graphics and law enforcement, serving as a police officer in the Dallas Sheriff’s Department for five years before beginning El Centro's Echocardiology program.
She is a member of the American Society of Echocardiography and is credentialed as a registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, certified in both adult echocardiography (AE) and pediatric echocardiography (PE).

Mavyn Olson, B.S.R.S., RT(R), RDCS (AE, PE)

Mavyn Olson is a graduate of El Centro’s adult Echocardiology Technology and Pediatric Echocardiology Technology programs. She holds an associate degree in radiological sciences and bachelor of science degree in radiological sciences from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls. She works as a staff pediatric echocardiographer at Pediatric Heart Specialists in Dallas.
She is a registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, certified in both adult and pediatric sonography. She is also registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists as a registered radiologic technician, RT(R). She is an active member with the North Texas Cardiac Ultrasound Society and the American Society of Echocardiography. She has been an adjunct faculty member for El Centro’s Pediatric Echocardiology Technology Program since January 2010.Delia Seaman, A.A.S., RDCS

Delia Seaman, who formerly served as El Centro’s Echocardiology Technology clinical coordinator, is an El Centro Echocardiology Technology program graduate, having earned her associate degree there. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in echocardiography from Oregon Institute of Technology. Seaman works as a staff cardiac sonographer for Baylor Health Care System.
Seaman is registered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography and is a member of the North Texas Cardiac Ultrasound Society and the American Society of Echocardiography. She began instruction as a clinical preceptor in 2004 and began teaching Echocardiology Technology courses as adjunct faculty for the Echocardiology Technology program in 2007.
