Dr. Kiran J. Kaur earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Blackburn College in Carlinville, Ill.; a master’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Kentucky; and a doctorate in biological sciences from Southern Methodist University. El Centro’s Biotechnology program coordinator and a Visiting Scholar since 2005, she also serves as an instructor in the Department of Cell Biology at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Dr. Kaur has served as a graduate research and teaching assistant and research associate for SMU’s Department of Biological Sciences, a research associate for Oregon Health Sciences University’s Department of Biochemistry in Portland, Ore., and a research associate for the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
She serves as lab instructor for introductory biology for biology majors, methods in cell biology and microbiology. Her research experience includes the molecular biology areas of siRNA, PCR, RT-PCR, PCR mutagenesis, yeast two-hybrid and plasmid construction, and cell culture.
