At El Centro College, students have many educational options. Some options lead immediately to a career. Others prepare you for transfer to a college or University. El Centro College’s courses and programs are separated into departments, called divisions.

Academic Transfer and STEM

If your goal is to complete your core curriculum (sometimes called the general education core) or finish your Associate of Arts (AA) or Associates of Science (AS) degree in order to transfer, then you’ll need to take courses in the Academic Transfer and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Divisions.

Information Technology provides training for dynamic multiple information technology career paths leading to Associate degrees, college certificates, and industry certifications. With our programs you will be able to learn the use of computers as primary tools of a trade, or you can learn the inner workings of computers themselves.

Distance Learning programs

Distance Learning

Distance Learning offers students a flexible, convenient way to earn college credit. You can choose from associate degree and certificate options, taking courses where it’s convenient for you - at home, in your office, on a military base or anyplace else you like. Distance Learning lets you learn using desktop and laptop computers, the Internet, audio players and other portable devices.

Dr. Wright Lassiter Early College High School
Dr Wright Lassiter Early College is a high school where motivated students have the opportunity to get a head start on college in a smaller setting than most traditional high schools.

Texas A&M-Chevron Engineering Academy
This unique program offers students an opportunity to pursue an engineering degree while co-enrolled at Texas A&M and El Centro College.

Clemente Course in the Humanities
The Clemente Course in the Humanities is a partnership between ECC and the Foundation for Community Empowerment's Free Minds Program. It is a 6-hour class for low income individuals and provides free tuition for the course, free books, Full DART pass, free childcare and more.

Dallas TexPREP
The Dallas Texas Prefreshman Engineering Program (Dallas TexPREP) is an academically intense, mathematics-based, summer enrichment program.

Institute of English Language Training
The IELT is an intensive English program designed to help equip F-1 international students with the necessary English language skills they need to study in American colleges and universities.

STEM Student Success Center
The STEM Student Success Center, established in April 2013, supports students pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Summer Bridge
The Summer Bridge program is a camp that helps students learn the necessary skills that will significantly improve their performance in mathematics, reading and writing skills.

Honors Program
The Honors Program gives talented students opportunities to earn honors credit in almost any course that is not developmental, and provides opportunities for intellectual and personal growth.

Bill J. Priest Campus

The Bill J. Priest Institute for Economic Development was established in 1989 with the purpose of supporting economic development for the county.

Core Curriculum

The core of learning in college is a set of courses that will provide you with the knowledge, skills and educational experiences you need to succeed in higher education. Those classes — called the Core Curriculum — are the courses that lead to an associate degree from El Centro College and which then transfer to four-year colleges and universities.
