Yahoo is an example of a web subject directory.
Subject directories are collections of Web sites that people have selected and organized.
The selected web sites are organized into subject categories and sub-categories. Sometimes the links to these web sites have annotations so you know what a web site is about.
Many subject directories, such as Yahoo, also include a search engine.
Subject directories usually contain links to higher quality web sites.
Best for browsing and topics that are broad or general.
You may have to click through quite a few categories and subcategories.
You may not be able to find information on your topic since directories usually do not link to as many websites as search engines.
