- Journals are usually published on a quarterly basis (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall)
- Journals contain long, in-depth articles that cover case studies, report research, and contain citations to articles that the author used in researching the topic
- Journals are geared toward scholars, researchers, or professionals
- Journals contain few advertisements or photographs
- Journals are sponsored by professional organizations or academic departments.
