Start with the Library . . . Why?
The library will help you find quality instead of quantity. You can quickly and efficiently find high quality information from a variety of credible sources!
Libraries provide access to reliable sources of information.
Librarians select books, magazines, journals, databases, and recommended websites. The Library collects sources considered reliable and historically relevant. Many websites contain inaccurate information, misinformation, or out-of-date information.
Libraries offer anytime access.
The Library provides access 24 hours a day/7 days a week to the online databases (newspapers, magazines...) and to the library catalog.
Personal assistance is available at the Reference Desk or via Chat whenever the library is open:
Email access is available not only when the Library is open but also beyond the Library hours. If a librarian is reading their email after the Library is closed, they will try to respond to your questions.
Libraries organize information for easy use.
Items are organized so you can find multiple sources of information on a topic: ebooks, magazine articles, newspaper articles, and recommended websites are all acessible from your computer. These are organized by subject, keywords, or topic.
Libraries provide historical information.
Llibraries provide an organized storehouse of information published through time. As well as finding very current information, you can also find books that are no longer published but contain valuable relevant information. You will also find older issues
of magazines/journals and even newspapers. The DCCCD has access to some newspapers and magazines/journals dating back to the early 1900's.
Librarians offer personal assistance.
Librarians like to help you. They'll answer your questions and help you learn how to locate relevant information from the online databases, library catalog, or reputable websites.
