Administered through the Department of Education, the
21st Century Community Learning
Center (CCLC) Program is a grant that provides expanded
academic enrichment opportunities for youth in low-performing
schools. We currently serve 7 Charter Schools in the
south and southeast areas of Dallas, with a total enrollment
of 790.
Awarded 21st CCLC funds under subcontract in 1999,
El Centro College provides academic enrichment activities
and tutorial services to students in grades K - 12.
On January 8, 2002, the program was re-authorized under
Title IV, part 8, of the No Child Left Behind Act.

include:
Voyager Expanded Learning reading intervention
program for grades K - 8
English as a Second Language (ESL)
GED
Creative Writing
College Prep
Career Choices
Nutrition/Health
Also available to enhance the academic component of
the program:
Youth development activities such as field trips
Drug and violence prevention programs
Technology education programs
Art education
Music education
Character education
Recreation
Educational opportunities are offered by the
Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD)
