Protective Service and Public Administration Programs
Protective Service and Public Administration programs were founded to provide occupational training opportunities for those individuals who desire to meet the increasing security needs of today's society. Correctional Officer Training Academy
This course is required for employment with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and any contract vendor thereof. The student will identify the role and responsibilities of a correctional officer; learn defensive tactics, restraint techniques, and first aid procedures as utilized in the correctional setting; discuss relevant rules, regulations, and laws; demonstrate minimum firearms proficiency with revolver, shotgun, and AR 15 rifle; and explain the use of less than lethal munitions. Prescreening by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice or contract vendor required.

Incident Command Systems (ICS)
This course provides training and resources for personnel who require advanced applications of the Incident Command Systems (ICS). The target audience for this course is for individuals who may assume a superivisory role in expanding incidents or *Type 3 incidents. This course expands upon information covered in the ICS-100 and ICS-200 courses.
