Our Teaching Philosophy
The Art Department of El Centro College provides a wide range of courses including studio and lecture classes. Studio classes in both 2-D and 3-D media are offered including drawing, painting, photography, design, jewelry & small metals, sculpture and ceramics. These classes are essential coursework for the student pursuing a degree in an arts field and they supply the student with valuable foundation skills. Advanced studio classes are offered at El Centro College; they provide students the opportunity to build upon their technical skills and expand their conceptual aptitude.El Centro College offers one AA degree - the Associate of Arts Degree with Emphasis in Art and Technology. A complete description of this degree can be found at this link.
Students are encouraged to continue along the course plan for their chosen AA degree in Art, to seek additional coursework and degrees beyond the AA, and engage in personal artistic exploration. The Art Department furnishes a supportive environment for an art student to hone their talent, develop a personal vocabulary of imagery and acquire the language for artistic discourse.
