Tutoring:
- Drop-in tutoring for all El Centro students in a variety of subjects.
- Tutoring is provided on a walk-in basis; tutors circulate among all students needing subject tutoring.
- Group tutoring can also be arranged with the Learning Center Director.
- Stop by A350 to make an appointment
Study Space:
- Students can work on their own with the Learning Center videos and computer software programs by signing in at the front desk and requesting the needed resource. Please bring headphones to view videos.
- Cubicles and computers are available for quiet study and work.
Academic Skills Coaching: Work one-on-one with the instructional associates or the director of the Learning Center staff to improve your academic performance. Stop by A350 to make an appointment.
Workshops:
- Come with your friends and classmates for presentations on topics like time management, taking notes in class, test anxiety, passing your exit exams, and more!
- Also, throughout the semester, we run success skill workshops in conjunction with TRIO and Rising Star. Watch for the dates/times and be sure to check them out!
Supplemental Instruction: During these sessions, students work with a "student leader" who has already taken the course and earned an "A." TThe student leader is trained in group study techniques that encourage active learning.
Study Groups: The director of the Learning Center works with students who wish to start or join a study group in any subject. The director assigns a Learning Center tutor and space for the study groups. Contact Carla Boyer (cboyer@dcccd.edu) in the Learning Center.
Disability Services:
- Dragon Dictate – recognizes speech
- CCTV - magnifies text for the visually-impaired student.
- Readers Edge – scans the text and reads it aloud for the student.
