The Jack Kent Cooke foundation, a private, independent foundation was established in 2000 by the estate of philanthropist and businessman Jack Kent Cooke to help young people of exceptional promise reach their full potential through education. In January and february 2004, the foundation will accept nominations for the Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship Program each two-year college in the US may nominate two students or recent graduates for this scholarship. In April 2004, the foundation will award approximately 30 scholarships to outstanding students transferring to four-year colleges and universities in fall 2004. The proceess is highly competitive, with over 1,000 candidates annually.

The scholarships cover tuition, living expenses, books, and other required fees for length of the undergraduate degree program. The maximum available for each Schkolar is $30,000 per year and the length is generally two years. Scholars my pursue baccalaureate degrees at any accredited college or university.

Selection Criteria will be based on the following:

*Academic Achievement and Intelligence
*Unmet financial need
*Will to succeed
*Leadership and public service
*Critical-thinking ability
*Appreciation for/participation in the arts and humanities.

The deadline for turning paper work to me is December 15. Applications may be download fromthe foundation's website at www.jackkentcookefoundation.org. Or the students can see me for more information.
