REQUIREMENTS FOR PROGRAM 2003-2004

RETENTION: (Level One)

Eligibility: 0-24 credit hours (does not include developmental classes/credits) or on disciplinary/academic probation/suspension
Level requirements:

  • Attend one workshop or cultural event (includes ceremonies) per semester
  • See TRIO advisor 3 times per semester. (Check in between the 1st and 15th during the months of Sept., Oct., Nov., Feb., March and April)
  • Keep TRIO informed of all contact changes
  • Maintain an active email address
  • Apply for Financial Aid (if eligible)
  • Attend tutoring as needed
  • Encouraged to register with TRIO advisor
  • Encouraged to participate in study groups


RETENTION AND DEGREE PLANNING: (Level Two)

Eligibility: 25-44 Credit Hours (does not include developmental classes/credits)
Level requirements:

  • See TRIO advisor 3 times per semester. (Check in between the 1st and 15th during the months of Sept., Oct., Nov., Feb., March and April)
  • Maintain an active email account.
  • Keep TRIO informed of all contact changes
  • Apply for Financial Aid (if eligible)
  • Attend one workshop or cultural event (includes ceremonies) per semester
  • File a degree plan with the college registrar
  • Encouraged to attend trips to 4-year colleges
  • Encouraged to use E-Connect or phone registration to register for classes


TRANSFER, GRADUATION, AND CAREER PLANNING: (Level Three)

Eligibility: Over 44 credit hours and TASP/Developmental complete.
Level requirements:

  • See TRIO advisor 3 times per semester (Check in between the 1st and 15th during the months of Sept., Oct., Nov., Feb., March and April)
  • Maintain an active email account.
  • Keep TRIO informed of all contact changes
  • Apply for graduation or complete transfer application as necessary
  • Visit 4-year colleges (get priority on trips)
  • Complete a resume
  • Attend one Career-related activity: workshop, seminar, job fair, etc.
  • Encourage mentoring, tutoring, leadership

SPECIAL STUDENTS: (Level Four)

  • Must be readmitted by Sarah
  • Participate in mentoring or tutoring/study groups
  • Levels of participation should be determined at that time by Sarah/advisor.


TRIO PROBATION

(Student is on Probation when the requirements are not met at the end of each semester.) The student:

  • Is not eligible for a supplemental Pell grant
  • Will be dropped from the TRIO program if Level requirements are not completed by the end of the next semester.
  • If suspended from the TRIO program, the student must apply for readmittance.
