Middle College at El Centro

Middle College High School at El Centro College is an educational choice available to any qualified student in the Dallas Independent School District. In 1989 the Dallas Independent Schooled District and El Centro College cooperated to create a school wi here academically capable young women and men in grades 9 through 12 can complete their high school courses, sharpen their skills in small classes, and get a head start on college work.

Students take high school classes that meet requirements for their high school diploma. Classes meet every day on an accelerated schedule that covers a semester's work every nine weeks. Final exams are the same Assessment of Course Performance taken by another Dallas high school students.

Middle College offers students the opportunity to begin attending college before graduating from high school. Students are expected to show that they have the potential to begin college level work in eleventh or twelfth grade, that they are willing to take responsibility for their education, and that they are committed to academic progress.
