This scholarship program was created
in 1999 by the Erin Tierney Kramp Endowment
Foundation, in memory of Erin Tierney Kramp. Erin, a 33 year old
wife, mother, and
venture capitalist, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1994. As
she had during her
successful business career, Erin applied her considerable intellectual
resources and
passion for excellence to fight her disease, preparing a video-taped
legacy of advice for
her young daughter, and communicating her very personal experience
of Lining with the
End in Mind (the title of the book she wrote) to a wide audience.
Erin’s story was so
compelling, that her opportunities to tell it continually gained
momentum. Many people
saw and heard Erin on national radio and television shows such as
20/20, Oprah
Winfrey and Focus on the Family. Now, the scholarship program is
one more way for
Erin’s life to continue to make a difference in the lives
of others. The recipient of the
Erin Tierney Kramp Encouragement Scholarship will possess high moral
character, will
have demonstrated leadership and scholastic excellence, and will
have shown courage
and perseverance in the face of adversity, all of which will honor
Erin’s memory.
