Q. What is the Assessment Center for?
A. The Assessment Centers exist to administer placement and enrollment exams, to proctor instructional exams and a wide variety of exams in a safe, secure environment where the integrity of exams could be upheld.

Q. Can you fax an official score report?
A. Score reports are not official when faxed. No, score reports can not be faxed.

Q. Can I schedule for Accuplacer over the phone?
A. No. Referral Forms, identification and, in some instances, receipts must be presented before pre-scheduling could be completed.

Q. Can I receive my scores over the phone?
A. FERPA will not allow this. Your privacy is protected. You must come to the Center and identify yourself.

Q. Who do I need to contact for Dual Credit Testing?
A. There is no Dual Credit Testing. High School Students seeking entry into Dual Credit Courses go through the Admissions process. These students are referred to the College Dual Credit liaison who works with high school principles and counselors. The Accuplacer is the test administered to Dual Credit students.

Q. When is the last time to take a test?
A. The latest is 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Q. Who do I need to speak with concerning a test for EMT?
A. Before testing, you must be advised. See an advisor in Continuing Education.

Q. Who do I need to speak with concerning a test for Firefighters?
A. This is the same test as that for EMT; however, before testing, you must consult the Dallas Fire-Rescue Departments recruitment office. There is a Civil Service Exam that they sponsor before we partner with them in administering the Accuplacer for Paramedics and Firefighters.

Q. What is the best time to take my test?
A. Know what test you are to take. Consult the Assessment Center's schedule.

Q. Why do I have to have the course and section number?
A. Your tests are filed by course and section number. We can ensure the right exam for your instructor when this information is presented.

Q. What is the process to get into the HESI program?
A. HESI is not a program. It is a test. One must first apply through Health Occupations program.

Q. What test do I take for HESI or NET?
A. HESI or NET are not programs, they are tests. They are tests for admissions into a Health Occupations program.

Q. How soon can I retake a HESI test?
A. As soon as it could be arranged through Health Occupations, students may retest.

Q. Could you please tell me what time I can take an assessment test?
A. All testing must be arranged through advisement, instructors and then by presenting a referral form to the customer service staff at the Assessment Center, when times could be discussed. Please refer to our operating hours and calendar.

Q. What days and times are Accuplacer test given?
A. Accuplacer is administered each week. Accuplacer is administered on Mondays and Tuesdays during the long semesters and Monday through Thursday during registration periods. Accuplacer is administered each Saturday.

Q. Is there a cost for the Accuplacer?
A. The first administration of the Accuplacer is free. Retakes are $10.00.

Q. Do I need to schedule for any exam?
A. No pre-scheduling is mandatory, but students have the option to do so.

Q. How much time do I have when taking the Accuplacer?
A. The entire Accuplacer can take from 3 to 4 hours. One section may take an hour. Two sections may take 11/2 to 2 hours.

Q. Do you have weekend times for your exams?
A. Teacher Certification tests and the TOEFL test are scheduled on Saturdays.
However; all other tests are available to walk-ins and those who prescheduled. No tests are administered after 1:30 p.m.

Q. What is the latest time I can come in to take an exam?
A. The latest is 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Q. Why must I show an I.D. to take a test?
A. Student tracking and recordkeeping is important to us. We need to know who you are.

Q. Why must I lock my cell phone in a locker?
A. No calls are allowed during exams. No photo taking is allowed during testing. No phone noise is permitted while others are testing.

Q. Where can I go to get information that is required on the Test Request Form?
A. One could go to the Admissions Office, keep their class schedule handy or consult the computers in the Student Center to get course and section numbers.

Q. Why can I not bring my own TI-83 calculator?
A. The Assessment Center provides non-programmed calculators. This is preferred by the faculty and staff of the College and has become our policy.

Q. Can I bring my child to the Assessment Center?
A. Unattended children are not allowed in or around the Assessment Center.
