Microsoft IT Academy


El Centro College, located in downtown Dallas, is an authorized Microsoft IT Academy, providing quality training with certified Microsoft Professionals using authorized course materials.

Microsoft IT Academies are recognized as premier providers of world-class IT Training programs that prepare students for careers and certifications on Microsoft advanced technologies.

Training is conducted in a fast-paced, 8 week format with credit and non-credit courses scheduled during the evening and weekend. Online courses are also available for selected courses. Selected classes may also be available during the day in a semester length format. All courses are designed to help prepare students to take the appropriate Microsoft Certified Professional exams including MCSE (Windows Server 2003), MCSA, MCSD, MCDBA, and MCAD. These classes are for all networking students -- those seeking The Network Administrator and Support AAS or the Networking Support Certificate, Solution Developer Certificate, and Application Developer Certificate, as well as those desiring Microsoft product certification.

MCSE Certification Track
The Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Certification is for IT professionals who analyze the business requirements and design and implement the infrastructure for business solutions using Microsoft's robust Windows Server 2003 operating system and Microsoft server software. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network systems. In order to obtain the MCSE Certification, individuals must successfully pass six core exams and one elective exam.
MCSA Certification Track
The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) Certification is for IT professionals who implement, manage and troubleshoot existing Windows 2003 server-based systems, including Windows.NET Server. A MCSA or Windows 2003 candidate should have six to 12 months of experience implementing and administering a desktop operating system, implementing and administering a network operating system, and managing an existing network infrastructure. In order to obtain the MCSA certification, individuals must successfully pass three core exams and one elective exam.
MCSD Certification Track
The Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) for Microsoft.NET Certification is for IT professionals who design, implement, support, and troubleshoot enterprise systems that use Microsoft products to create and run the systems. In order to obtain the MCSD Certification, individuals must successfully pass four core exams and one elective exam.
MCDBA Certification Track
The Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) Certification targets those IT professionals who implement and administer Microsoft SQL Server databases. The MCDBA is for those individuals who derive physical database designs, develop logical data models, create physical databases, create data services by using Transact-SQL, manage and maintain databases, configure and manage security, monitor and optimize databases, and install and configure Microsoft SQL Server. In order to obtain the MCDBA Certification, individuals must successfully pass three core exams and one elective exam.
MCAD Certification Track
The Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD) for Microsoft.NET is aimed at developers who use Microsoft Visual Studio.NET and the .NET Framework to develop, deploy, and maintain department-level applications and components for Microsoft Windows and the web. Individuals working in this job role typically have at least one to two years of relevant work experience. In order to obtain the MCAD Certification, individuals must successfully pass two core exams and one elective exam in their area of specification.
