Both prerequisite courses and all courses in Semester I and II must be completed before a student may enroll in Semester III to begin the Medical Laboratory Technology (MLAB) courses. BIOL 1408 is recommended prior to BIOL 1470 if no previous high school biology. BIOL 1407 is a required prerequisite for BIOL 2401. SCIT 1407/1408 must be completed with a "B" or better to substitute for BIOL 2401/2402. BIOL 1470/1472 accepted for SCIT 1407/1408 within five-year time limit. MATH 1414 will also be recognized for the math requirement. BIOL 2420 must be completed at El Centro College. If completed elsewhere, the student must present documentation of a "wet lab" experience (i.e., gram stains, streaking plates, identifying actual unknown given mixed cultures, performing biochemical analysis, reading hemolysis, etc.) for transfer credit to be awarded. Microbiology courses utilizing computerized or simulated labs will not be accepted in substitution. Humanities/Fine Arts Elective - must be selected from the following:
MLAB 2331 (Immunohematology) is the capstone course for the MLT Associate Degree Program. NOTE: Students enrolling in this program who plan to transfer to a four-year institution should consult an advisor or counselor regarding transfer requirements and transferability of theses courses to the four-year institution of their choice. |
