Sommelier Training New program

El Centro College is sponsoring a Sommelier Training Program that was developed by the International Sommelier Guild (ISG).

The 12-week Training Program will begin on Sunday 3 February 2008. The hours of the class are Sundays, 12:00pm – 6:00pm. This 84 hour Sommelier training program is made up of two ISG introductory courses.
  • Wine Fundamentals 1
  • Wine Fundamentals 2
These two courses need to be completed prior to sitting for the Sommelier Diploma Program (SDP).

The International Sommelier Guild (ISG) has brought together the resources of top educational institutions, industry leaders, premier restaurateurs, wine merchants, and wine writers. The ISG has certified sommeliers for nearly 20 years and it is the only professional body that certifies sommeliers by direct instruction.

The course instructor is Darryl Beeson, a well-known Sommelier in the Metroplex, who has guided wine programs in establishments such as the French Room-Adolphus Hotel, The Mansion On Turtle Creek, and the Gaylord Resort at Grapevine. He is currently the ISG instructor for sommelier training at the Conrad Hilton School of hotel-restaurant Management at the University of Houston.

To enroll in this course visit the ISG website: www.internationalsommelier.com or call US Toll Free phone at’ 866-412-0464.
