Basic Skills

GED (General Education)

Workforce Education offers instructional courses in Reading, Writing and Math. These classes are taught by a qualified instructor who uses lectures, individual/group assignments and tests to provide the skills needed to successfully pass the test in the five GED subject areas. Courses are taught in eight-week sessions and include a GED practice test and evaluation. To see the GED course descriptions offered, please view the PDF download (linked below), or contact Angela Taylor at 214 860-5938.

GED testing is not available at El Centro College. A list of local testing sites will be provided.

PLATO Reading and Math

Self-paced courses in reading and math are available to strengthen vocabulary, reading comprehension and math skills. These courses are offered separately and may be used as a refresher, to enhance skills for job readiness or to prepare for the GED test. An instructor is on hand to assist students with any learning challenges. You may qualify for financial aid. For more information, contact Angela Taylor at 214 860-5938 or visit the financial aid office in A034.
