Accounting/Business/Economics

El Centro College offers a two-year Accounting Associate Degree program.  Students are trained to keep a small set of books, make accounting entries in the accounting department of larger companies and perform other duties required of junior accountants, and are trained in the use of computers in accounting.

El Centro students have taken and been given credit hours toward the CPA exam for Principles of Accounting I & II, Intermediate Accounting I & II, Cost Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Computerized Accounting QuickBooks, Computerized Accounting Spreadsheets,Income Tax, and Payroll and Tax Accounting. In some cases students have received credit hours for Accounting Co-op. 

A high percentage of El Centro students have passed the CPA exam by taking courses through our Accounting department. 

Some of the advanced accounting courses have been transferable to several seniorcolleges and universities in the Dallas area. Sstudents need to check with the college or universtiy to which they plan to transfer.
