Continuing/Workforce Education: Sommelier Training

Programs

El Centro College sponsors a Sommelier Training Program developed by the International Sommelier Guild (ISG).

The 12-week Training Program is held three times per year in the Fall, Spring, and Summer.

The hours of the class are Sundays, 12:00pm - 7:00pm. This 84 hour Sommelier training program is made up of two ISG introductory courses.
  • Wine Fundamentals 1
  • Wine Fundamentals 2
These two courses need to be completed prior to sitting for the Sommelier Diploma Program (SDP).

The International Sommelier Guild (ISG) has brought together the resources of top educational institutions, industry leaders, premier restaurateurs, wine merchants, and wine writers. The ISG has certified sommeliers for nearly 20 years and it is the only professional body that certifies sommeliers by direct instruction.

The course instructor is Karla Barber, a well-known Sommelier in the DFW Metroplex. E-mail Karla at karla@internationalsommelier.com.
