This course is designed for students who are applying to re-enter Semester I of nursing (Nursing 1423). The course is made available to registered students via e-campus and requires purchase of a textbook with accompanying CD. The CD is PC compatible only and cannot be utilized on a Mac. There are 9 chapters of content with 6 Study quizzes that provide rationale to enhance one’s test-taking ability. Six exams are required with a minimum pass score of 75%. Exam results are printed or saved, and then submitted to the faculty for review via e-campus. The course content includes test taking strategies, infection control, geriatric care, communication, cultural competence, nutrition, basic human needs, peri-operative care, and basic life support. The course is self-paced with completion required within six weeks of registering for the course. This course serves as a preparatory course for students who are re-entering the first semester of Associate Degree Nursing to achieve success in answering test items that involve critical thinking skills. Students will use case studies and real clinical situations to understand nursing process concepts and write nursing care plans for course work. Students will learn charting for clinical situations. This course is designed for students who are currently enrolled in the El Centro Associate Degree Nursing Program.
