The Community Health Worker provides cultural mediation between communities and human services systems; informal counseling and social support; culturally and linguistically appropriate health education; advocacy for individual and community health needs; assurance that information is dispensed to the community; build individual and community capacity; or provide referral and follow-up services. There are three courses offered in the program; Introduction to Community Health, Wellness and Health Promotion and Practicum Community Health Services. This course addresses preparation for career success including ethics, interpersonal relations, professional attire, observation, teamwork, and advancement. This course utilizes the KeyTrain system to improve career skills for Community Health Care Worker employment. You will complete work on-line and meet on campus on specific dates. This class is open to all students interested in Community Health Care Worker courses. Strongly suggested for approved students for spring and students who missed the deadline and will apply in the summer. Last day to register is 2/18/13.
