Dallas Observer Wine & Dine Event to support the Culinary InstituteFor many years El Centro College has set the standard for culinary training. The success of our program requires that we add more kitchen space and new equipment to serve our students in this ever-growing market. Additional space is available for the expansion of the kitchen, but El Centro College (ECC) needs to raise some funds to make our dream a reality. The Food & Hospitality Institute kitchen has not had a major renovation since 1974. It’s time! Come build our new kitchen by attending the Dallas Observer Wine & Dine Event on Wednesday, April 22 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Fashion Industry Gallery located at 1807 Ross Avenue. Tickets are $25 in advance and $40 at the door. Guests must be 21. Ticket includes food, wine, beer & spirit samplings. El Centro’s Food and Hospitality Institute kicked off its first fund-raising effort on Sunday, March 1 by hosting more than 30 renowned local chefs and spirit purveyors in the ECC student center. Instructors and students worked together to bring the who’s who of the Dallas culinary community together to provide a unique opportunity for supporters of the Food & Hospitality Institute. Many of the chefs who provided their signature “Bits and Bites” were former culinary students, demonstrating the quality education students received at El Centro. The fund raising committee has proposed a series of future fund-raising events. These events which will be sit-down dinners honoring members of the culinary community, that have been instrumental in getting El Centro’s Food & Hospitality Institution operational. |
