Construction Map of ECC

Wow! The dirt is flying. Barricades are up. Yellow electrical cords are beginning to appear. Workers are working.

Yes, these are all early indicators that we are beginning the construction of El Centro’s new two-story student and technology center on the south side of our campus.

Expected to be completed by mid-2004, the new center will feature space for expanded student activities, technology classrooms, student dining facilities, an art gallery and meeting rooms.

Included will 26,800 square feet of new construction, a 4,000 square foot renovation of our present building and a facelift for one-third of the campus’ present green space.

Tywell Construction Corporation of Forney is the general contractor. Architects are PGAL Associates and CamargoCopeland Associated Architects of Dallas.

“ Our objective,” says El Centro President Wright Lassiter, “is to proceed quickly and efficiently with our construction, affording the least amount of obstruction and disruption while continuing to serve the growing needs of our students.”

Our Mural will be saved and the green space will return, smaller but still green. The covered walkway on the third floor is a great place to view the construction and to stay out of most of the weather. .
