TIP: Don't forget the subject specific databases... start with the general databases and then click on one of the subject displayed down the right side of this page.
TIP: Start out by using the databases in the order they are listed below, especially for Speech. The most useful databases, which include articles, great attention-getters and some images are listed first in this list.

- Includes: charts, graphs and pictures, maps that can also be search for by clicking the IMAGES TAB.
- CQ Researcher (Tutorial) (Quick Tips)
- One of the best sources for speeches about topics in the news!
- Includes: charts, graphs and pictures
- Academic Search Complete (Tutorial or Tutorial)
- Articles from over 4,000 newspapers and magazines.Includes a limited but growing number of pictures - these display in a small area to the right side of the screen.
- Wilson OmniFile Full Text, Mega Edition
(Tutorial)
- Includes science, art gallery images, and biographies. Includes: pictures in the Biography Reference Bank. The PDF articles often contain pictures. Do a "print screen" and then copy/paste inside an image editing program if you want a copy of of article pictures for PowerPoint!
- Consumer Health Complete
- Great source of medical images.
Newspapers
- New York Times/Wall Street Journal (including the Historical New York Times). The Historical New York Times contains pdf screenshots of the newspaper.Do a "print screen" and then copy/paste inside an image editing program if you want a copy of of article pictures for PowerPoint!
Specialized Databases
- American History Online (Tutorial)
- More than history - includes information on anything dealing with American life and culture. Includes some pictures.
- Texas Reference Center
- Texas and Dallas history, landmarks, and famous people.Do a "print screen" of PDF articles and then copy/paste inside an image editing program if you want a copy of of article pictures for PowerPoint!
- Facts. com (includes science, history, biographies, country reports, pictures, maps)
- Issues & Controversies (includes many pictures, charts, maps)
TIP: You may want to click on any of the topics displayed on the right side of the screen for more detailed information.
For example, click on MEDICINE for medical information. Health and Wellness Resource Center and Consumer Health Complete contain many medical pictures and videos.
