Step #4: Demographic Information - what is the neighborhood and the people like - will it support your business?
- American Factfinder
- Searchable by zip code, provides basic demographic information (income, households, ages, diversity...) . "Maps" provide detailed street-by-street details on a zip code for each demographic category. "Brief" provides a link to national statistics.
- Census Data/Demograhics
- Demographic and statistical data available for the United States, individual states, cities, and by zip code.
- City Data
- Once you've determined your NAICS Code, you will need to know the zip codes you are interested in locating your business in. Click on the city you are interested in and it will give you basic demographic information, along with other zip codes for that city.
- Demographic Links
- List of annotated links to demographic and statistical data - most searchable by zip code. Includes population, health education, income, environmental, business, political, and more.
- CensusScope
- Track census statistics by nation, state, or metropolitan area. Charts trends for: education, age, family structure, income, race, migratino, citizenship status, poverty and occupation. Includes maps and rankings.

- Census Track Databases
- Now that you know your NAICS Code and the zip codes for your business area, you can locate the number of businesses that match the NAICS Code within the zip codes you are working within. This website includes county business patterns, searchable by SIC and NAICS. Lists Census databases, with a description of the type of information available at each.
