College Computing Staff are on weekly rotations of duty carrying the after hours pager. The after hours pager is monitored 24/7. Pages should receive a return call within no more than 30 minutes.

Laptops

Laptops can be lent to faculty and staff on a first come first served basis. There are a limited number of them. All laptops must be returned within two weeks so that others can have an opportunity to use them.

Quotes

You can get a quote for a new computer or printer by by sending an email to 5dphelp@dcccd.edu or by contacting a manager in College Computing.

Software Purchases

Software purchases must go through College Computing for several reasons the most pressing reason being that of auditing. DSC audits the college every year. All software and licensing must be accounted for when the auditors arrive. If software is not purchased through College Computing, there will be no record of the purchase and therefore we will not be in audit compliance.

Wireless Network

We do indeed have a wireless network at El Centro. Currently it covers the following areas:

Building A floors: 2,3,4,5,8,9

Building B floors: 1 and 2

Building C floors: 1,2,3

Wireless Access Points are about to be installed on floors: 6,7.

The cabling for floors 0 and 1 will be pulled in the next few days and the access points will be installed after the remodeling of the respective floors.

BJP has 100% wireless coverage.

West Campus has 100% wireless coverage.

R-Campus and the Paramount wireless installs are about to begin (02/01/2010).
